Maharashtra State government reduces Classes 1 to 12 syllabus by 25% for the academic year 2020-21

In view of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the Maharashtra government has reduced the syllabus by 25 per cent for the academic year 2020-21. The syllabus has been reduced for Class 1st to 12th in the state.

The proposal sent out by the State Education Amendment and Training Council has been approved by the state government on Saturday.

Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of School Education has confirmed the news by sharing a tweet on her personal twitter handle. The tweet read, “In view of COVID 19 (Coronavirus) in the state, the State Education Amendment and Training Council had proposed a 25 per cent reduction in the syllabus for Classes I to XII of the academic session 2020-21. The state government has approved this proposal.”

Unlike last year this year reopening of the schools has been delayed due to COVID 19(Corona) virus pandemic.

Since there has been a significant delay in reopening of schools, the government wants to ease the burden on students, so the syllabus is reduced by 25%, said Education minister Varsha Gaikwad in her statement.
